Emilene graduated from Roehampton University in 2007 after completing a BA (Hons) degree in Primary Education (Art & Design Education). She started teaching in the borough of Croydon where she worked as a PPA Cover Teacher in six classes covering Year 3 and 4. This job gave her numerous experiences teaching children of various learning abilities. To further her experiences of teaching she became a Classroom Teacher to a Year 3 class. In this class there were many opportunities to plan and deliver lessons to children who had English as an additional language (EAL), a hearing impairment and special educational needs (SEN).

Emilene now specialises in teaching primary school aged children on a one to one basis or in small groups. She is passionate about enabling children to learn and build their self-confidence. It is her desire that each child that she teaches will fulfil their learning potential one day. Emilene considers herself to be a calm, patient and encouraging teacher.

She has furthered her studies by completing a Certificate in Counselling Children Using the Arts (The Centre for Child Mental Health). This course has given her tools to help and support children who have learning and emotional difficulties and generally help children unlock their feelings.

Emilene successfully completed the OCR Level 5 Diploma in Teaching Students with Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD)/Dyslexia. She is able to teach in a structured, cumulative and multisensory way to help students progress. Her lessons involve games to reinforce learning.

Emilene is a qualified primary school teacher based in Dartford, Kent. Original teaching, degree and further education certificates can be shown upon request.

Emilene has been tutoring our daughters for Maths and English for over two years. They needed support as they had some gaps in their learning and Emilene was able to tailor lessons to their needs, using fun and inventive ways to stimulate and challenge them.

This support has helped increase their confidence in learning at school. Emilene is incredibly reliable and always professional. Our girls look forward to their time with Emilene and we happily recommended her to others.

Emilene made sure that our daughter had a firm understanding of the fundamental areas of the curriculum and was able to offer different methods of working out calculations. Her teaching was always patient, encouraging and Emilene was very good at noticing and targeting areas that could be be improved on.

As a result our daughter's confidence grew in the subject. It reflected well in the feedback that we were having from primary school as to how she was performing and has given her a good start in the subject at secondary school. She see maths as now being her favourite subject.

We were impressed with Emilene's reliability and never missed any lessons due to her availability. Homework was always provided which which aimed to reinforce what had just been taught as well to cover previous topics. Time was always given to discuss both the lesson and homework.

Myself and my wife felt that the maths homework that our elder daughter was bringing home from her primary school relied on an online website where there was little opportunity to see evidence of working out. We felt that some tuition would offer her more of a challenge and would allow us to better monitor her progress.

Using Emilene’s services meant that we could see evidence of how our daughter answered questions. It also gave us the opportunity to discuss what was being covered on a weekly basis and for Emilene to advise on her progress.
